Thank you for expressing interest in the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. The Department provides primary fire and rescue services for approximately 8000 families and businesses in the Brentsville District of Prince William County. In addition, it assists other fire departments in the county as well as the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. We serve the public by providing fire suppression, rescue, basic and advanced life support services as well as swift water rescue boat teams.

To apply for membership with the Department, you must complete the attached application and the DMV Request for Driving Record Transcript. Return this completed application packet along with copies of any certifications that you may have received. When you return your paperwork, make sure it is placed in the "Membership Committee" mailbox. Upon receipt of your completed application, with all appropriate documentation, it will be reviewed by the Membership Committee who will then contact you to set up an interview. The General Membership will then vote on your application at the next monthly scheduled business meeting and you will be contacted with the results.

If accepted into probationary membership, you will be required to attend at least 4 prerequisite classes before riding on any department apparatus. These single day classes usually occur on a Saturday. You will then be expected to complete training to become either a Firefighter or Emergency Medical Technician before your probationary period ends. These courses are typically held two weeknights plus one weekend day each week for approximately 3-6 months. All courses are paid for by the Fire Department. After a period of six months of probationary status and completed certification as either a Firefighter or Emergency Medical Technician you will be eligible to be voted into full membership.

If you have any other questions about the department or the membership application process please feel free to contact the Membership Committee at 703-368-3233 [Option 5] or by email at You may also call or stop by and talk to a member at the station [Option 0], in the evenings and during weekends. Applications can also be downloaded here. Thank you for your interest in the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
